History
The history of L’Esprit where the Bluegrass Country Estate Kentucky B&B is located is quite interesting as it originally was planned as a 5,000 acre Arabian Horse Farm development. Although the Arabian horse breed is beautiful, it is quite appropriate that a Thoroughbred Training Center has taken over the major facilities.
There are beautiful horse farms throughout the area and it is truly a special place for horse and country lovers. In terms of the Bluegrass Country Estate, it is one of the only bed and breakfasts in the area that is located in the country and offers luxury inn accommodations with so many amenities. In addition, the new horse barn brings a new meaning to horse and rider lodging facilities.
The Inn was opened in late 2007 and has had so many wonderful people stay with us. Kentucky Derby is a favorite and we are generally booked a year in advance. Breeders Cup has returned to Louisville and is another favorite. We also have guests from all over bring their horses and spend a weekend riding, swimming and enjoying themselves. Bluegrass Country Estate has also become a local favorite to just getaway and be spoiled!!

About Us
It's been 16 years since we opened the Bed and Breakfast here in L'Esprit and what a fabulous time we have had. So many wonderful new friends and return guests make this a great experience. Since we opened we have been named one of Google's Favorite Places, Best of Oldham hotels and B&B’s, #1 in Kentucky for Amenities, had 4 writers review us and include in their books, been featured in Kentucky Monthly, Today's Woman, Equestrian organizations and publications, included in the recipe book "Room At the Top" and was featured in "The Great Inns" design book. We couldn't be more pleased!
The owner has brought all of her skills to running this truly unique Louisville, Kentucky area bed and breakfast, a B&B with the amenities and atmosphere of a luxury hotel in the heart of Bluegrass Country. It is a dream come true for her and, believe me, she will make your stay very special. With experiences across the United States and Europe and some very unique trips on the QE2, Concorde and a Russian Ice Breaker, which she will be happy to share with you -- you will not lack for interesting conversation. She has plenty of horse experiences as well to include, such as events like the Tevis Cup which is an endurance ride from Auburn to Tahoe City California (100 miles in 24 hours). She loves entertaining, cooking and animals - all reasons she has taken this big step.
Cheryl is also a Broker and Realtor® and just as she runs her Inn focus’ on her clients needs. While her love is horses and enjoys selling horse properties, she also specializes in luxury properties, probate real estate and first time home buyers. It is so rewarding to help people find their dream house!

We can't forget your additional hosts Sammy. Part of the family and cute as can be! Sammy greets all the guests with his big smile,
You will meet Dakota and Sasha when you visit. They are the love of my life and will make your stay even more enjoyable as you watch them graze in the front pasture while you are having breakfast.
There is a beautiful saying in the book, If I Only Had a Horse, My Life Would Be Different: "Horses afford us the luxury of enchantment. While there may be no romancing boarding fees and vet bills, whenever a horse emerges in your life, fantasy awakens. Horses fuel the imaginations of children and nurture the youthful souls of adults." The book is available for you to read.
